Let’s take a look at ways to stay connected and informed with notifications in your community account across desktop and mobile apps.

Desktop

When you are accessing your community account in a desktop browser, we show notifications in two ways:

In-app notifications

Within the community header, you can access the notifications panel, direct messages, and threads. The corresponding icons provide you with convenient access to important updates, your one-to-one and group conversations, and ongoing discussions.

You can keep track of unread in-app notifications with notification badges. Whenever there are new updates, you’ll see a red badge with a numbered count on Notifications, Direct messages, and Threads icons.

Clicking the Notifications 🔔 icon opens up the notification panel. Here, the in-app notifications are grouped into tabs, making it easier to see what's most important to you. These tabs are:

💡 Tip: To open your notifications in a new browser tab, hold down the Cmd key (or Ctrl on Windows) and click the notification.

Sidebar notifications

When there is unread content in post, chat, or event spaces, the name of these spaces appears in bold with a numbered badge representing the number of unread posts, events, and chat space messages in the community sidebar. This visual notification is automatic and will be visible to members in spaces they have joined.
